The Doughnut Aroma

Glazing the doughnuts

The scent that wafts through the Doughnut Vault is pretty amazing. It smells of lush, yeasty bread and sweet butter-cream. The scent alone is enough to make you doughnut crazy. Now, think if you could just bottle that scent in a candle. It would be perfect for all those times when you’re craving doughnut but just can’t get to one.

Well luckily (well…maybe it’s lucky, jury’s still out on this one) there are good people in the world who do make doughnut scented candles. We’ve lined some up here, but full disclosure: we’ve never tried a single solitary one of these candles.

If any of you lovely readers out there do choose to purchase and light one of the below candles, let us know how it stacks up to the real thing.

The glazed doughnuts before they hit the fryer Cooking away Precision! Golden Getting the glaze treatment

Yankee Candle Cider Donut Scented Candle- $23.95

Pros: Clearly the most popular and commercial choice. Relatively easy to obtain

Cons: A little on the pricey side It’s not shaped like a doughnut

Self described as, “A tantalizing twist … warm cider aroma with ginger, star anise, rum, almonds, and vanilla cream. Experience the authentic, true-to-life fragrance and renowned Yankee Candle quality that have made us America’s favorite.”

The gingerbread stacks

Frosted Doughnut Soy Candle - $5.00

Pros: Wow, just take a look at the website

Cons: Uhh, again, we defer to the website Not sure about the eye sight of that photographer

“highly scented in the fragrance of: FROSTED DOUGHNUT. Moist and fluffy doughnut covered with a berry flavored icing.” We’ll take your word for it.

White Sugar Doughnut Scented Candles- $4.99

Pros: Handmade, we love supporting “the little guy” Shaped like light, fluffy little doughnuts that actually look like you might want to eat them Cute photo Cons:

Could be a little weak in the scent department Ships from Thailand, so might take awhile to get your doughnut candle Disappointing descriptor: “This is real aroma scent candle, can’t eat!!!”

You know it

Chocolate Doughnut Candle from Midnight Candle - $9.99

Pros: Looks like a slightly smaller version of a Doughnut Vault doughnut

Cons: The sprinkles are just too much “party” for us The doughnut is too white to be real. Couldn’t fool anyone with this candle. Poor grammar and we quote from the site:

“Standard Doughnut size, a truly looking real doughnut! We cover it with fake chocolate fudge and sprinkles for a great look!! Absolutely wild.”

And on the off chance that all these smells aren’t doing it for you— stop on by for the real thing.

It’s raining sprinkles
