Doughnut Vault Queue and A Goes Back to School

This week we went out and chatted with a few new doughnut friends. But before we get to the Queue and A, Miss Julie (the sassy and adorable gal behind the counter, in case you don’t know her) had a birthday recently and wanted us to thank everyone who wished her a happy birthday and made the day all the more fun. Cheers.

Now for the Queue and A, we chatted up a group of mostly teachers who were enjoying the last Friday before returning to work this week; they were a bit camera shy, but volunteered their friend to be photographed who told us that his name was Kensen Lam, but we’re pretty sure that’s an alias, given the way they all laughed…

Our amicable Doughnut Vault Q & A friend

DV: So what are you having?

KL: A chocolate glaze doughnut, and vanilla; they’re all good… and so different.

DV: So what are you all doing here on this Friday morning?

KL: Enjoying our last Friday before going back to work for Chicago Public Schools.

DV: Oh, I thought school had started already.

KL: Oh sh*t! (Huge laughs around the table). We’re supposed to be in school!

DV: I heard you’re all getting a raise this year?

KL: Yes, 2% for 25% more time…

DV: Whoo. Touchy subject. You must love what you do, though, right?

KL: Yeah, clearly. We’re not in it for the money. In fact, this might be our only meal today, it’s all we can afford… (more laughter).

DV: Do you have doughnuts in the teachers lounge?

KL: Hmmm… I think during Teacher Appreciation Week they brought in doughnuts one year.

**DV: Well I hope they’re Doughnut Vault doughnuts this year. **

DV: What time did you get here?

KL: We had an argument about this on facebook, as to when we should arrive.

DV: But you made it. Were you coming from far away?

KL: No, most of us live by the zoo and the farmers market.

DV: Love the Green City Farmers Market.

KL: Yeah I wish there was a Doughnut Vault there.

DV: Not a bad idea…

DV: So what else are you going to do this weekend before going back to work?

KL: Going dancing tonight. I’m going out with a bang!

**DV: Sounds like a good way to end the summer, with a doughnut and some dancing. **
